The dead internet theory is totally going to be a real thing.

According to researchers from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, the progress towards developing AI technologies comes with a challenge: self-delusion by the AI. Collins and his colleagues examined generating AI technologies' responses through up to 20 cycles with repeated uses of inferior quality outputs instead of addressing the problem. They found that the quality of the content was deteriorating with every few utilization of the tool.

That is disturbing since AI is already creating tons of content and making such threats – '57% of all online text has already been published using AI-based text generation tools'. Going by the current trends, in a mere five years, about 90% of all information on the internet might be AI-generated based on the quality we will witness today. This may lead to a situation where the AI is only exposed to wrong data in the future instead of the real truth.

While still born in the long-due dystopia of media space, the eye does well with new knowledge, timely replenished. Otherwise, the virtual world relies more on AI misleading others than the other way around.
