🤖 AI Prompts: Your Unfair Advantage in Content Creation

A great prompt is essential to get the best output from generative AI models.

Welcome to the first official Bagel Bots newsletter! As a subscriber of 50-75 newsletters, I know it’s essential for Bagel Bots to:

  1. Provide valuable information

  2. Be easy to read

  3. Contain no bullshit

I will do my best to maintain these three things, but please let me know if your bullshit meter goes off!

👋🏻 *Adobe has entered the generative AI chat*

Sometimes it’s about being first; other times, it’s about being the best. Adobe threw its hat into the ring to take on the other heavyweights in the generative AI space, Midjourney, Dall-E, and Stable Diffusion.

Experiment, imagine, and make an infinite range of creations with Firefly, a family of creative generative AI models coming to Adobe products.

The question we all have when we create something beautiful with a generative AI tool is—do I own this? Can I sell it? Print and frame it?

In a Forbes interview from September 2016, Midjourney’s founder admitted they didn’t get consent to use the hundreds of millions of images they used to build the platform; it was just one enormous data scrape.

Adobe says, “this first beta model has been trained on Adobe Stock images, openly-licensed content, and public domain content where the copyright has expired.”

That said, if you are worried about where your AI creations are coming from, Firefly may be the tool for you.

🤷🏼‍♂️ Your ChatGPT prompts (probably) suck

The basics—why are prompts the most important thing to learn when jumping into the world of AI and automation? Remember, you are not talking to a human that can pick up on social cues. A great prompt is essential to get the best output from generative AI models. Here are some reasons why:

  • A good prompt sets the context and defines the task for the AI model, which helps it understand what kind of output is expected.

  • A well-crafted prompt provides the necessary constraints and guidelines for the AI model to follow, improving the output's quality and relevance.

  • The prompt's language, tone, and style can influence the AI model's output, so using clear, concise, and consistent language is essential.

  • A good prompt can help avoid common errors and biases that AI models are prone to by ensuring that the model is trained on appropriate data and is guided toward the relevant output.

  • By crafting a great prompt, you can help make the generative AI output more valuable and effective for your intended audience or application.

Let’s start with some easy prompts to help you on your ChatGPT journey…

🗣️ My tip of the week - let’s teach you to speak AI

Every week, I’ll be giving a tip or two on things you can implement immediately into your AI model arsenal. This week, it’s three prompts to add to your ChatGPT knowledge base, and to save you from generic answers.

Examples:

  1. “You are an expert in _____. Please explain [topic] to me in ten bullet points.”

  2. “I have hired you to be a professional consultant for me. Explain how to _____.”

  3. You are an expert in creating prompts. What is the best prompt for me to ask an AI model to get the response to this query, and what information would you need from me? Here is my query: [insert query here]” (this is chain prompting and will lead to a series of messages back and forth)

Actual use cases:

  1. You’re an expert:

Disclaimer: The good news is that this is my first newsletter; please know I am not getting paid to promote anything (yet).

As someone that loves AI and traveling, this caught my eye, and it’s incredible. World (or the like 50 people that received this), meet Tripnotes.

My wife and I are going to London in a few weeks, and I wanted to see if this could help us get our Ted Lasso on.

😍 The best thing I created this week

At my company, we used AI for some incredible SEO work that changed our entire workflow. Since I won’t be sharing any major trade secrets, I’ll share my favorite art this week and the Midjourney prompt that brought it to life.

Takeaways: Midjourney V5 is amazing. Better prompts lead to realistic images of real people. AI-generated hands are inconsistent but getting better.

Prompt: Photography shot through an outdoor window of a coffee shop with neon sign lighting, window glares and reflections, depth of field, young woman sitting at a table, portrait, fujifilm x - s10, 105 mm f1. 8 --ar 2:1 --v 5 --upbeta

Thanks for subscribing and following along. Each week, we’ll dive deeper into the prompts, automation, and workflows I use at home and work to build amazing things and scale a multi-million-dollar business.

Please let me know what you think of this first shot at this thing.
