🧠 Today’s Tip: Unlock AI-Powered Tips to Defeat Procrastination
(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.
Another reminder that the world is not ready for AI, and it’s a damn shame. Lattice, which is a people management platform used by 5,000 customers, announced they were going to onboard and manage their digital AI employees just as they do their human employees.
Their CEO, Sarah Franklin, posted about the big move on LinkedIn, which had the internet buzzing. They also posted about it on their website.
There's just one problem: the internet buzz was so bad that they changed their minds. I was disappointed to hear this.
Sawyer Middeleer, chief of staff at NYC-based AI agent startup Aomni, wrote that "treating AI agents as employees disrespects the humanity of your real employees. Worse, it implies that you view humans simply as 'resources' to be optimized and measured against machines."
In a statement announcing the decision to reverse course, Lattice said that "this innovation sparked a lot of conversation and questions that have no answers yet. We look forward to continuing to work with our customers on the responsible use of AI but will not further pursue digital workers in the product."
And just like that, the innovative idea was shelved for another time. Whether you agree with it or not, we should all respect people who take big swings, and this was a big swing. I’m sad we didn’t get to see it through.
AI agents are coming to companies whether the general public agrees with it or not. If you run a business, go innovate!

Cool Tech: Google Robots with Gemini 1.5 training
Google came in hot with Gemini when the AI wars first began, but they’ve gone pretty silent in the last few months. We finally have an update on what they’re doing with Gemini 1.5, and it involves robots!
Google is improving its robots' navigation and task completion skills using Gemini AI. The DeepMind robotics team explained in a research paper that the Gemini 1.5 Pro’s long context window, which lets AI models process more information, makes it easier for users to give natural language instructions to RT-2 robots.
We took the robots on a tour of specific areas in a real-world setting, highlighting key places to recall - such as "Lewis’s desk" or "temporary desk area". Then, they were asked to lead us to these locations. 🏢

My take: AI startups saw more money in 2Q than they ever have before, raising a whopping $24.2 billion in 1,001 deals, per Crunchbase data. So if you want to start a new company, start an AI company.
My take: I believe this is coming quicker than we think it is. And once it’s here, all bets are off on what happens next.
My take: I love builders, and this is really dope stuff! “Skild AI is building intelligence that is grounded in the physical world. The company is breaking the data barrier in robotics, training its model on at least 1,000X more data points than competing models.”
