🧠Today’s Tip: AI-Powered Budgeting Tips Just for You
(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.
OpenAI is getting better, and that’s important for all of us power users.
OpenAI's "Prover-Verifier Games" research enhances the clarity of language model outputs, making them understandable for both humans and weaker models. Optimizing models solely for correctness often leads to solutions that are hard to understand, causing more errors from human evaluators.
Training advanced models to produce text verifiable by weaker models also improved human evaluation. This process, called improving legibility, uses "prover-verifier games," where a "prover" generates solutions and a "verifier" checks them, ensuring outputs are both correct and precise.
Using GPT-4 models, OpenAI trained a strong "prover" to create solutions legible to weaker "verifiers." The training included both correct and incorrect solutions to enhance verifier accuracy. Key findings include:
Models optimized solely for correctness had poor legibility, while the prover-verifier method balanced accuracy and clarity.
Three useful models emerged: a robust verifier, a helpful prover, and a sneaky prover highlighting improvement areas.
This approach builds trust in AI by requiring clear and verifiable justifications, reducing the need for human demonstrations. It's critical for developing AI systems that are correct and transparently verifiable, enhancing trust in real-world applications.

Latest News.
My take: I understand why creators would be upset by this. These are public videos open to viewing by anyone, human or not. Shouldn’t it be fair game?
đź”—JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon says he'll add thousands of jobs focused on AI in the next couple of years
My take: Good news, right? A powerful CEO who is interested in adding jobs around AI. Why can’t more companies go all-in like this?
My take: A record 62 million tons (Mt) of e-waste was produced in 2022, Up 82% from 2010. On track to rise another 32% to 82 million tons in 2030. That seems terrible, right?
My take: On the one hand, this seems absolutely insane. On the other hand, I could see many people really loving an app like this. We have reached the dead internet theory.
