Apple has a stack of money that most people cannot fathom, and I’m glad they are finally spending it to improve their products. Apple has acquired a startup named DarwinAI.

Apple has been relatively quiet in the generative AI market, but this acquisition signals that the company is gearing up to make a big push in AI this year. CEO Tim Cook has promised that Apple will "break new ground" in AI in 2024, and an announcement is expected at the company's worldwide developers conference in June.

This means two things:

1. Apple is gearing up for a big run in AI for iOS18 and future devices

2. We are another step closer to robots building my next iPhone

Cool Tech: Mercedes Humanoid Robots

You know I love robots making things more streamlined, and now one of my favorite companies is utilizing them.

The news: Mercedes-Benz is collaborating with Apptronik, a leading robotics company, to pilot using humanoid robots in their manufacturing facilities. This partnership aims to explore the potential of advanced robotics in enhancing efficiency and safety in the automotive industry.

Why I love it: The Apptronik humanoid robots, known as Apollo, are designed to perform tasks that are repetitive, physically demanding, and require a high level of precision. These tasks are often challenging for human workers and can increase the risk of injury or strain. Mercedes-Benz hopes to improve working conditions and increase productivity by introducing humanoid robots.

The pilot program will focus on logistics, with the robots delivering assembly kits to workers on the production line while simultaneously inspecting the components. This dual-purpose approach allows Mercedes-Benz to optimize the use of space in their facilities, as the robots are designed to operate in areas already designed for human workers.
