In a leaked recording of a fireside chat held in June, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman said that the company’s artificial intelligence technology could make coding a secondary task over the next couple of years by redefining what it means to be a software engineer.

He suggested that most developer work will one day be accomplished by innovation rather than writing code. Instead, they should focus on understanding customers and final products."Developers will need to be more in tune with what our customers need because that’s going to be more of the job than writing code," he said.

This shift coincides with Goldman Sachs CIO Marco Argenti’s comments that technical skills alone won’t cut it anymore during this era; according to him, his college-age daughter should study philosophy to question AI outputs better when working as an engineer.

I know many skilled developers, and most agree that a 25% better version of today’s LLMs could replace them. The future is going to get wacky.

Cool Tech: Ideogram 2.0

I love AI-generated art and have created over 20,000 images online through various tools. However, one reigns supreme for text, and that’s Ideogram. Ideogram just launched 2.0 of their platform, and the updates are pretty incredible.

The announcement came directly from the organization X:

The Realistic style in Ideogram 2.0 lets you create images that convincingly resemble photographs with dramatically improved textures. Features like human hands, eyes, skin, and hair appear strikingly lifelike. Check out the video and the entire thread below.

Speaking of fonts and logos, I decided to attempt some logos for Bagel Bots, and honestly, this is pretty incredible.

Reminder: Ideogram is a visual communication platform that helps everyone become more creative with generative AI.

Here’s the prompt (please fill in the placeholders):

Design a logo for a company named [Company Name], which operates in the [Industry/Field]. The logo should convey [Core Values/Brand Personality, e.g., innovation, trust, elegance].
