(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.

TIME released their CEO of The Year 2023, Sam Altman, the original, then past, and now present CEO of Open AI.

You know how I know Sam is a good guy? He was fired as CEO of OpenAI, and 90% of the company was ready to leave their incredibly high-paying jobs to support him. If you weren’t sure if AI was mainstream, this proves it is.

Of course, being in Sam’s role means you have two final outcomes—change the world or destroy it.

Google Gemini is here, and it’s (supposedly) the next big thing in AI. What is it, you ask? I asked Google AI to tell me about Gemini.

Google Gemini is a revolutionary large language model (LLM) unveiled by Google on December 6, 2023. It's touted as the company's most capable and general-purpose AI model to date, boasting impressive capabilities across various domains.

Key Features:

  • Multimodality: Gemini can understand and respond to information in various formats, including text, images, code, and data. This allows it to perform complex tasks like analyzing images and charts, generating code based on natural language instructions, and translating between languages while preserving the original meaning.

  • Human-level performance: Gemini Ultra, the largest and most advanced version, achieved a score of 90.0% on the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) benchmark, surpassing human experts in a combination of 57 subjects. This demonstrates its exceptional understanding of the world and ability to solve problems across various domains.

  • Scalability and accessibility: Like Google's previous LLM, PaLM 2, Gemini will be available in different sizes and configurations, catering to diverse user needs and resource limitations. This ensures broader accessibility and diverse applications.

  • Future-oriented design: Gemini is built with capabilities like memory and planning in mind, paving the way for future advancements in AI. This includes the ability to learn from past experiences and adapt its behavior accordingly, leading to more intelligent and versatile interactions.

Potential Applications:

  • Research and development: Gemini can significantly enhance research efforts by analyzing vast amounts of data, generating hypotheses, and designing experiments. It can also accelerate scientific breakthroughs by uncovering hidden patterns and connections.

  • Education and training: Personalized learning experiences can be tailored to individual needs and learning styles through Gemini's ability to understand and respond to individual questions and requirements. Additionally, it can generate interactive content and provide real-time feedback, making learning more engaging and effective.

  • Creative industries: Artists, writers, and musicians can leverage Gemini's creative capabilities to generate new ideas, explore different styles, and collaborate more effectively.

  • Business and productivity: Gemini can assist with various tasks, including data analysis, complex problem-solving, and generating reports. This can significantly improve efficiency and productivity across various industries.

  • Accessibility and inclusion: Gemini has the potential to make information and resources more accessible to people with disabilities by translating languages, transcribing audio, and generating alternative forms of content.

My take: I remember when understanding social media made you a sought-after hire in the market. The future is AI; start learning and you’ll have a ton of offers.

My take: If I’m reading this correctly, I could take an image of an athlete or celebrity and turn it into a video with Runway. Amazing.

My take: I would have bet it was 50% of students, so that’s either promising or sad, based on which side of this you’re on.

My take: A few thoughts: 1. This is probably needed, but it also means everyone can see how dangerous this could be. 2. There are a ton of these pacts and communities, so people are bought in. 3. Why did they create the longest headline in the history of the internet?

My take: If you’re out there and you ever wanted to be a multimillionaire, you should probably start an AI startup. Everyone making anything good is making serious bank right now.

🧠 Learn faster with AI YouTube summaries.

I watch a ton of YouTube videos. In fact, I have absolutely learned more on YouTube than I ever learned in college. Sorry, UNLV.

Chaindesk put together a really nice YouTube AI Summarizer, and it’s so impressive. To test it, I used a video of me on a podcast talking about AI (you should watch it).

📈 Consistency always wins.

The first three hours of almost every single day are the same for me. In fact, most weeks are the same for me. I don’t try to swing for grand slams every day (sometimes they happen); I do my thing at a high level consistently and try not to have below-average days.

Do that over a long period and watch what happens.
