🤔 Can you guess which image is real and which one is AI? Go vote!
(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.
This has been a hard week after losing my best friend, Baxter.
One Big Story: Over 25% of Google's new code is written by AI
Sundar Pichai recently announced that Google uses AI to write over a quarter of its new code. AI is taking on a significant part of Google's coding process, boosting productivity and helping engineers get more done faster. Pichai shared this news during their latest earnings call.
Key Takeaways:
Over 25% of Google's new code is written by AI and then reviewed by human engineers.
This kind of AI use isn't new—startups like Cognition Labs have their own AI 'engineers' like Devin, and ChatGPT has already proven it can code at a Google engineer level.
However, there are potential issues, such as copyright problems, security flaws, and even concerns about power consumption, tied to AI-crafted code.
My Take: It’s incredible to see AI stepping into such an essential role at Google. Imagine AI handling the routine coding tasks, freeing engineers to focus on the big picture—this could lead to even faster innovation. But we also need to be cautious. AI can still make mistakes, so human oversight is crucial. Security becomes a significant concern if AI controls computers and tasks autonomously. There’s also the possibility of fewer entry-level software jobs, but on the upside, current engineers could focus on more challenging, creative problems. It feels like we’re watching the future of engineering evolve in real-time.
What do you think—is this a productivity win, or are we risking a loss of jobs? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Cool Tech: 10 Billion Humanoid Robots by 2040?
Elon Musk recently dropped some wild predictions at the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh. According to Musk, by 2040, there could be 10 billion humanoid robots in the world, with a price tag between $20,000 and $25,000 each. That's a lot of robots, folks. And guess who’s making them? Tesla, of course, with their Optimus robot project.
A bold prediction? Definitely. But it's not like Elon’s known for thinking small. He even suggested that while robotic taxis might push Tesla to a $5 trillion valuation, the Optimus robot could bring it all the way to $25 trillion. Talk about optimism for Optimus.
I’m keeping an eye on this one because if we end up with 10 billion Optimus robots in the next couple of decades, the world will be unrecognizable from where we are now.

🤔 Which image is real?
One of these images is real, and one was created with AI. Vote for which one you think is real, and tell us why you voted that way. My only goal is to choose such good photos that the majority of votes are wrong.
Which image is the real one? |
Last edition’s results (56% were wrong):
Did you vote in the poll from the 29th? This was another tough one, and the bottom image is real. Go back and see the photos here.
This is what people thought:
Top: “I see one or two stray hairs which I attribute to a real picture.”
Bottom: “You can see a reflection in the eye.”
