In addition, DeepSeek’s R1 model is reportedly crushing it while being way cheaper than U.S. competitors. That alone is enough to set off alarm bells in Silicon Valley. AI development is moving fast, and guardrails around intellectual property are struggling to keep up. Expect OpenAI and Microsoft to tighten access even more, and regulators will start paying close attention.
