(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.
This is our first post ever going to 20,000 subscribers! Thank you all for being on this journey with me. I am so excited about the big things we have planned for Bagel Bots in the near future.
One Big Story: The Agentic AI Reasoning Era Begins
A recent post from Sequoia Capital reminds us that generative AI is evolving from quick responses to deeper thinking. We're moving from "thinking fast" to "thinking slow," where AI reasons during inference. The big players (Microsoft/OpenAI, AWS/Anthropic, Google/DeepMind) are stabilizing, and now the race is about adding true reasoning capabilities.
OpenAI's latest model, "Strawberry" (formerly Q*), brings "inference-time compute." Instead of just generating responses, Strawberry pauses to think, similar to AlphaGo in 2016. This deliberate thinking makes AI closer to human-like reasoning—though for now, it’s better at logic and math than planning vacations.
Main Takeaways:
Inference-Time Compute: AI can now "stop and think" for more thoughtful responses.
System 2 Thinking: Moving from mimicry to true reasoning. For complex problems, AI uses deliberate thought.
Scaling Reasoning: More inference time means better answers, similar to AlphaGo.
My Take: This is the next step for AI—models that reason, not just copy. Imagine AI thinking for hours to solve challenging problems. This is how we’ll see truly impactful applications. The AI "doing the work" era is coming fast, and I’m here for it.
The fastest way to build AI apps
We’re excited to introduce Writer AI Studio, the fastest way to build AI apps, products, and features. Writer’s unique full-stack design makes it easy to prototype, deploy, and test AI apps – allowing developers to build with APIs, a drag-and-drop open-source Python framework, or a no-code builder, so you have flexibility to build the way you want.
Writer comes with a suite of top-ranking LLMs and has built-in RAG for easy integration with your data. Check it out if you’re looking to streamline how you build and integrate AI apps.

Cool Tech: Apple's Next Move: ChatGPT Meets Siri
Looks like Apple is finally ready to dive deeper into AI with the upcoming integration of ChatGPT into Siri. In a behind-the-scenes update discovered by MacRumors, Apple is prepping new Apple Intelligence features for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15—and ChatGPT is about to become a big part of it.
The Breakdown:
Apple is gearing up to roll out ChatGPT support for Siri, which will introduce new text and image generation abilities.
ChatGPT will help Siri handle those more complex questions that currently lead to dead ends.
These features are expected to hit in future updates, specifically iOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2, later this year.
My Take: This is a big deal for Apple. It's almost like Apple is saying, "Hey, Siri could use a bit of help here," and ChatGPT is coming to the rescue. We've seen Siri fall behind other assistants in complex conversations, but integrating ChatGPT is a smart way to catch up.
Latest News
My take: To keep the money rolling into AI, people will need to keep the money rolling into data centers to power the AI. The future of energy consumption will be fascinating, with AI snowballing into a beast.
My take: Want to know how weird the future will be? This was in their announcement about the company ➡️ “Humanity now faces a new existential question: How will humans & AI coexist?”
My take: Art created by a humanoid is much more expensive than the average piece of art created by a human. What does that say about the path we’re on?
My take: Uh oh. "In the new paper, Pappas, who also serves as the Associate Dean for Research at Penn Engineering, and his coauthors caution that a wide variety of AI-controlled robots can be manipulated or hacked."

Today’s Tip: Use AI For Instant Comprehensive Market Research
Are you launching a new business, thinking of starting a new newsletter, or working at a company and wanting to know more about the competitive landscape? I have a mega-prompt for you to complete intense market research instantly.
Remember: the more detailed you are when filling in placeholders, the better the output. I recommend using ChatGPT or Claude for this.
Here is the prompt:
Create a comprehensive market research survey that is tailored to understand the preferences, pain points, behaviors, and motivations of [target audience] for [product/service] in [industry/market]. Ensure the survey captures detailed information regarding demographic profiles, purchasing behaviors, product preferences, barriers to adoption, satisfaction levels, and suggestions for improvement. The survey should aim to derive insights that help in product development, marketing strategies, customer experience enhancements, and positioning.
Here are the placeholders to help guide the creation:
1. Target Audience:
Who is the primary audience? (e.g., [young professionals aged 25-34 who are interested in fitness])
Are there specific subgroups? (e.g., [parents, students, first-time users, seasoned professionals])
2. Market Landscape:
Define the product or service. (e.g., [a wearable health tracker, a pet grooming service, an AI writing tool])
What industry is this focused on? (e.g., [technology, health and wellness, financial services])
3. Demographic Details:
Include questions that determine age, gender, income level, education, geographic location, marital status, and household size.
4. Behavioral Insights:
How frequently does the target audience interact with similar products/services? (e.g., [daily, weekly, occasionally])
What are the typical purchasing channels? (e.g., [online, in-store, through recommendations, subscription services])
5. Preferences and Drivers:
What are the key factors driving purchasing decisions? (e.g., [price, convenience, quality, brand reputation, eco-friendliness])
What features are most desirable in the product/service? (e.g., [durability, ease of use, customization options, social proof])
6. Pain Points and Barriers:
What are the common challenges faced by the target audience related to this product/service? (e.g., [high cost, lack of time, complexity, privacy concerns])
Are there unmet needs in the market that are not addressed by current products/services?
7. Purchasing Habits:
How does the target audience decide what to purchase? (e.g., [word-of-mouth, online reviews, advertising, influencer recommendations])
What is the typical budget range for similar products/services?
8. Satisfaction Levels and User Experience:
How satisfied are users with existing products/services? (e.g., [scale questions, qualitative feedback])
What aspects are most/least satisfying? (e.g., [customer support, feature set, value for money, packaging])
9. Improvement and Feedback:
What improvements would users like to see? (e.g., [more features, lower price, better customer service, enhanced accessibility])
Are there any additional features that would make the product/service more useful?
10. Competitive Landscape:
What alternative products/services are currently used by the target audience? (e.g., [list competitors, ask about user experience with them])
Why do users prefer these alternatives?
11. Motivations and Barriers to Adoption:
What would motivate a switch to the product/service? (e.g., [special offers, superior quality, recommendations from trusted sources])
What are the barriers that might prevent adoption or consistent use?

🤔 Which image is real?
One of these images is real, and one was created with AI. Vote for which one you think is real, and tell us why you voted that way. My only goal is to choose such good photos that the majority of votes are wrong.
Which image is the real one? |
Last edition’s results (55% were wrong):
Did you vote in the poll from the 17th? This was another tough one, and the top image is real. The bottom image is so damn good that it’s freaky that it’s AI, right? Hint: Look at the phone.
One comment for each image from voters:
Top: “Deep of field and the color temperature over the skin”
Bottom: “The bottom looks like an actual photo; the top looks generated”
