One Big Story: Ethos, the AI Restaurant That Doesn’t Exist
Ethos, an AI-generated "restaurant" in Austin, is making waves on Instagram with its mouthwatering food pics, quirky staff bios, and a website that looks legit—except it’s all fake. There’s no location, no permits, no real food, yet people are still trying to call and make reservations, only to be left confused when they can't.
The Highlights:
Ethos claims to be Austin’s top restaurant, but it doesn’t actually exist.
Everything—from the food photos to the blog posts—is AI-generated.
Despite this, it’s gaining attention, and people are trying to dine there, even though it’s all digital.
Why Is It Blowing Up? Ethos went viral this month after X user Justine Moore uncovered its AI nature. Ethos even responded with a fake image of her dining at the non-existent spot.
My Take: Ethos is a wild example of how AI can blur reality. It's a playful satire of restaurant culture but also makes us question what's real in a tech-driven world. The fact that people call to make reservations for a fake place is hilarious and a little eerie. Is this the future of dining? Maybe, but for now, it’s a glimpse of how AI is reshaping even the simplest experiences.

Cool Tech: iXi, the Self-Driving Golf Trolley
The iXi is a game-changer for golfers who want the traditional walking experience without lugging their clubs. After two years in development, it’s the world’s first self-driving golf trolley, designed to follow you around the course like a virtual caddy. Equipped with an onboard camera and AI system, it tracks key metrics like swing patterns and distances, offering personalized feedback and suggestions. Plus, it records every swing for post-round analysis.
A 3.5" touchscreen provides simple control, and its removable battery lasts up to 36 holes per charge. Weighing just 22 pounds with a foldable aluminum frame, the iXi is easy to carry and will be available soon.

Today’s Tip: How To Use AI To Create Social Media Posts That Sound Like You
Creating social media posts is time-consuming. I take a ton of notes all week, plan out ideas for compelling posts, finalize them, schedule them to be posted on a particular day and time in Hypefury, and then reply to people and engage in real-time. It’s a ton of work, and there is a better way. I created a mega prompt for anyone wanting to instantly craft dozens of engaging social media posts that actually sound like you.
Remember: the more detailed you are when filling in placeholders, the better the output. I recommend using ChatGPT or Claude for this.
Here is the prompt:
Create {quantity} amazing {content_type} for {platform}. Align them with my {goal or brand mission}, and write in a {tone or style} that reflects my personality, similar to {specific examples of previous content or notable public figures}. These posts should aim to {specific purpose, e.g., inspire, entertain, promote a product, spark conversation}. Include a mix of formats, such as {list potential formats like quotes, storytelling, humor, educational tidbits}. Add any recommended {elements like hashtags, emojis, images, or calls to action} to enhance engagement.
Details to Include:

Key Points or Values: Integrate {key values or beliefs I want to convey, e.g., “empowerment, authenticity, humor”} into each post.
Content Elements: {Include specific content elements like quotes, stats, personal stories, humor, or CTA}. Example: “Include a motivational quote in one post, a personal story about a recent challenge in another”.
Audience Insight: Write in a way that resonates with my audience of {specific audience characteristics, e.g., “entrepreneurs in their 30s, primarily interested in self-improvement and business growth”}.
Additional Information for Amazing Output:
Voice and Personality: The posts should sound like me—{insert personality details, e.g., “high-energy, witty, a bit sarcastic, yet compassionate”}. It should feel as though I’m directly speaking to {specific group, e.g., “fellow founders who’ve been through the ups and downs of scaling a startup”}.

🤔 Which image is real?
One of these images is real, and one was created with AI. Vote for which one you think is real, and tell us why you voted that way. My only goal is to choose such good photos that the majority of votes are wrong.
Which image is the real one? |
Last edition’s results (63% were wrong):
Did you vote in the poll from the 20th? This was another tough one, and the top image is real. The bottom picture looks like a lower quality, so we perceive it as real. But, in actuality, the top image was REAL! Go back and see the photos here.
Someone who voted for the bottom said, “The bridge doesn't feel super natural at the top.”
As an amateur photographer, my favorite thing is capturing photos from weird angles that don’t look real.
