One Big Story: ChatGPT Can Now Handle Reminders and To-Dos For You
Have you ever wished ChatGPT could handle more than just answering your questions in real-time? Well, OpenAI just made it happen. They’ve introduced a new beta feature called Tasks for ChatGPT, allowing it to act as a digital assistant by scheduling reminders and future actions. Think Google Assistant, but with ChatGPT’s advanced conversational abilities.
🎁 We will give you a full breakdown of how to use this new feature at the bottom of this email!
Here’s the gist:
What it does: Tasks lets you schedule reminders or actions, either as one-time events or recurring tasks. For example, you can get a daily weather update, set a passport renewal reminder, or even queue up a knock-knock joke for your kids at bedtime.
How to use it: Look for the “4o with scheduled tasks” option in your ChatGPT model picker. You tell it what you need and when, and it’s scheduled.
Where to manage tasks: You can edit or cancel tasks in the new Tasks section in the profile menu (web only for now) or directly within chat threads. Once tasks are completed, notifications will hit your web, desktop, and mobile devices.
Limits: You’re capped at 10 active tasks at a time, so prioritize wisely.

Cool Tech: AI-Driven Materials Discovery with MatterGen and MatterSim
Imagine an AI that doesn’t just analyze existing materials but dreams up entirely new ones. Microsoft Research’s MatterGen and MatterSim are doing exactly that—changing how materials are designed and validated, with the potential to revolutionize industries like energy, healthcare, and beyond.
What are they?
MatterGen is the visionary—it uses AI to generate thousands of material candidates based on specific constraints like durability, conductivity, or environmental impact.
MatterSim is the realist—it rigorously tests the stability and feasibility of those materials through advanced simulations.
Together, they speed up a process that used to take years of trial and error in a lab.
Why it matters: Advances in materials science have always driven human progress, from the Bronze Age to silicon chips. However, traditional methods are slow, expensive, and rely heavily on intuition and luck. Tools like MatterGen and MatterSim make the process faster, more efficient, and scalable, allowing researchers to meet global demands urgently.
Applications:
Designing new battery materials for sustainable energy storage.
Creating superconductors that could transform medical imaging and quantum computing.
Exploring uncharted territories in materials science with confidence and speed.
