🧠 Today’s Tip: How To Use AI To Get a Raise
(Read time: five minutes) - Fun fact: I never change this.
Apple’s artificial intelligence is here, and well, I’m underwhelmed by it. I have been using Apple computers since I was a kid, and I have 10+ devices now. Let me start by saying I am mega-brand loyal to Apple. I cannot see a world where I don’t have a MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV in every room, etc. But yesterday’s announcements felt flat to me.
The technology has potential but is coming out in beta with even the essential basics missing. Restricting themselves to the latest M1 chip and newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs, Apple Intelligence alienates many users for whom the experience is somewhat disjointed. Also, the tools it provides, including basic writing and image editing, are not groundbreaking in any way, especially with Google around. The changes that have been made, such as enhancing request typing and going through the context, are acceptable but do not change the overall stature of Siri.
An area where this could create issues is Apple’s approach towards user privacy, which may restrict how well the AI works since most of the data will be processed on the device rather than in the cloud, which is effective processing. This is a good way of looking at privacy. However, this will hinder the AI from performing more sophisticated functions. With most of Apple Intelligence’s key features pushed back and some of those requiring a subscription model, it does not seem that Apple is offering anything new to its users and is simply trying to follow behind the trend of AI.

Cool Tech: Isaac Robot from Weave
You all know I love robots. No, seriously, I am obsessed with the idea of robots doing all of the manual work humans don’t want to do anymore. I am also a clean freak, and I would love a robot that keeps my home clean and organized. Meet Isaac, the only personal robot built for the home—and shipping next year.
How Isaac works for you:
Isaac will autonomously tidy up endless messes, fold your laundry, and care for your home while you’re away.
Isaac acts when you give it a voice or text command, or when you program an automation in our app.
When Isaac isn't needed, its camera folds and turns off, its torso lowers, and it stows in the enclosure that's included with your order.
And with Remote Op, you can request that Weave specialists remotely operate your Isaac for a task it can't yet do autonomously.
I know I say this about every robot I share with you all, but I really want this one.

Latest News.
My take: A reminder that writers, artists, and all types of creators will continue to have an issue with AI. For the record, I completely understand their position. But I also think they can find many uses of AI that can benefit them.
My take: Even though he sadly passed away this week, news has come out that James Earl Jones signed over rights for AI to recreate his voice. I love that his incredible voice can live on, and it’s great we have the technology to do that.
My take: Superintelligent aliens on another planet are watching from afar and laughing as the dominos slowly fall to our inevitable doom via uncontrollable AI. I am like 30% serious.
My take: If this is available in Southern California, where I live, I will be the first person to sign up. If I could pay a monthly fee or a large one-time fee, the information I could gather that would extend my life would be well worth the cost.

🤔 Which image is real?
One of these images is real, and one was created with AI. Vote for which one you think is real, and tell us why you voted that way.
Which image is the real one? |
Last edition’s results (76% were correct):
Did you vote in the poll from the 10th? The winner was the bottom image!
This is what people had to say about why they believed the bottom image was real:
“something weird going on with teeth and eyes in the first image.” - LK
“I would assume both are AI generated because of the blur, but if one is not the top one has a flaw in the teeth which seems to be the cue” - SM
